When building a home the builder and the customer try to think of every contingency when preparing the contract. However, you the customer may have a situation or circumstance change or you may have forgotten to add something in the contract you realized at a later date. Depending upon when this discovery happens and the stage the home is in during the construction process it may be no problem to make the change you request. Remember that not all changes can be made and if work is already complete it may be very expensive or cost prohibitive to make the change. Keep in mind you may also be charged for the creation of the estimate (whether the change even occurs). If you wish to make a change please contact your sales representative. An example change order may look like the following:

Purchasers have requested the change described above, its costs, and the corresponding adjustment in the construction schedule which are not a part of the original contract. By signing this change order, Purchasers agree to pay for this change and acknowledge that the estimated delivery date for the home is revised accordingly. The builder is not held responsible for lost mortgage rate locks. The builder will incorporate the change into the home only when the change order has been approved and signed by the builder and purchaser, and paid in full by Purchasers. The builder has the option of revising the cost, delivery date adjustment, or both if Purchasers have not signed this change order by the expiration date above. If a real estate agent is involved in this transaction no commission will be paid for this change order.
